Short description In this project enterprise-teaching model “Junior Enterprise”, that is recognised worldwide in various institutions and has a worldwide practice of 40 years, is implemented. The project deals with the problem of lacking enterprise level of graduates in Lithuania, which is, according to the Statistics Department, twice lower that in European Union. The activities of the project are oriented at the elimination of the causes influencing the problem and seek to remove the main identified negative factors limiting the start of business – bankruptcy risk and a possibility to lose one’s project. There is an emphasis on the innovative practical enterprise training of students in the real enterprises that students themselves will run during the studies. Based on the worldwide practice, if ensured professional support from professionals (mentors), the students of the first and second study cycle will practically train their enterprise abilities during the project while realising their own business plans and by independently participating in the processes of student enterprise management. It will help to realise the innovation of study methods when study method is oriented at the development of students’ creativity and general abilities. Successful worldwide practice of JE model implementation reveals that the results of practical training at students’ enterprises foreseen in the model encourage the graduates of higher education institution to go into private business. In foreign countries 20,000 students participate in the activities of model implementation and the annual turnover of 300 young enterprises makes up 40 million Euros. Moreover, with its successful example and results it has a positive influence on the motivation of new students and indirectly increases the number of businessmen. During the studies the method of practical learning, planned in the model, encourages training enterprise abilities and creatively plans and realises new business ideas. Moreover, the results of the JE model influence the decrease of unemployment in the country, a lasting positive benefit for the growth of economics and improvement of social welfare. Short description The enterprise level in Lithuania is quite low compared with other countries of European Union (EU): the number of enterprise reflecting business owners for 1000 inhabitants in Lithuania makes up 1,2%, whereas the average of EU is more than 7% (data of 2007). Meanwhile, in unemployment level Lithuania stays in the third place in EU (Eurostat data of 2011) and unemployment level of youth is the greatest in the whole EU – 34,4% (data of 2010 fourth quarter). In such situation, the training of youth enterprise is one of the most effective means to decrease the unemployment of youth, that is for young people to start their own business and to create a working place. The goal of this project is to train enterprise abilities of the students of higher education institutions and to form their attitude towards the establishment and development of business. While training the motivation to manage a business the number of young businesses in Lithuania will increase. The teaching of practical skills of enterprise will create the conditions for the development of new businesses encouraging the employment of the youth and decreasing the level of unemployment. This programme is based on the enterprise teaching initiatives (for example “Y Combinator”, “Seedcamp”, “Techstars”, etc.) applied in EU countries and the USA, approbating their good practices for Lithuania’s reality and needs. The primary aim group is students of the higher education institutions, different study fields (exact sciences and technology, humanities, social sciences, arts). However, with a prospect for continuation in the field of enterprise training in Lithuania, the programme will also involve business studies lecturers and mentors working in the business field in Lithuania. This programme is based on the interaction between formal and non-formal education and totality principle (when training is oriented at providing knowledge and practical skills, as well as formation of attitude). It pre-determinates the effectiveness of the programme and its benefit.
